Allow the lit votive to burn a minimum of an hour each time you light it to prevent tunneling. Burn in a snug-fitting votive holder as votives are considered a container candle and not a pillar.

According to the National Institute of Health and the National Library of Medicine, 34.7% of people will suffer headaches, migraines and upper respiratory issues when exposed to strong fragrances in artificially scented products. That means 1 in 3 people will feel negative affects while being exposed to candles with added perfume. The candles designed and produced by Big Moon Beeswax, are made from 100% Pure Beeswax, hand selected from apiaries located within the Pacific Northwest. Since beeswax is made naturally by bees, the wax color and fragrance will vary depending on where in North America the honeybees forage. We select all our beeswax according to fragrance, color and geographical foraging regions. Our most frequently used beeswax colors range from a soft yellow to a rich golden hue.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers a product to be fragrance-free when there are “no fragrance materials or masking scents used in a product.” 100% pure beeswax has zero added fragrance materials, but still smells beautiful naturally. It is the only candle wax that smells lovely in its natural state without any added fragrances or masking agents. Related blog post here.
Like all Big Moon Beeswax candles, our votives are not made from mass-produced candle molds that are available at candle supply stores everywhere. Our in-house artisans design each type of candle exclusively for Big Moon Beeswax customers.
We appreciate our customers so much that we love to package our votives as if they were a gift from us to you. We carefully package each box of votives in our bee-themed boxes, tied with ribbon, so they are fun to receive and easy to send as gifts.
We will never buy our beeswax from China or from beeswax re-sellers that processes the wax from unknown origins before converting into pellets. We buy our beeswax directly from an apiary in the Pacific Northwest and one on the East Coast. We pay more for this premium wax, but it’s important to know that the wax we use and breathe in as candles are safe and pure. Our wicks are made right here in the USA out of cotton.
