Beeswax Votive Candles

A votive is the small candle that behaves like a big one. It's an inch and a half across, and in a snug glass holder it burns for fifteen hours or more — pure beeswax melts slowly, and the glass keeps every drop where the flame can use it. What you'll notice when it's lit is honey. That's the wax itself, not something we put in it.

Tea light or votive? A tea light is the same beeswax in its own little cup — about five hours, fits most holders, nothing else needed. A votive burns about three times as long but needs the glass. If you already have tea light holders, our beeswax tea lights are the easy pick.

Which holder should I use for a beeswax votive?

A snug one. Straight sides, glass, just wider than the candle — the liquid wax should be able to reach the walls and stop there. A wide dish or a plate lets the wax spread thin and run out before the wick can use it, and you'll lose hours. Keep it out of drafts, and on the first burn let the melt pool reach the glass before you put it out; that sets the candle up to burn evenly all the way down.
